Marshmallows puff-up business plan

A student project to use marshmallows as the soft building blocks of iconic designs has helped primary pupils see business as fun.

Bedford College Business Studies teenagers were tasked with organising a project which combined event management with commercial principles – and they opted for the soft solution: Marshmallows.

They delivered the idea to classes at various local primary schools including Shortstown Primary where the bright pupils tackled the challenge of re-creating the Eiffel Tower, Paris; The Shard, London; the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italy and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Others schools taking part were Scott Lower, Brickhill; Pinchill Lower, Felmersham and Cauldwell Primary.

Ellen Punter, Schools and Community Liaison Manager for Bedford College said: “We encourage local school children to think outside the box about their educational and career aspirations. And, as part of those partnership arrangements our students act as role models in a number of projects with pupils of all ages.”

The Bedford College students involved are: Aaron Jeffries, Ellie Rogers, Travis Graham and Joe Newbury, Jamie Tookey and Darnell Williams.
