Wednesday 20 May 2015

Iain Duncan Smith, who is continuing in his role as Work and Pensions Secretary in the new Conservative Government, visited Bedford College prior to the May election.

Local MP Richard Fuller, who was re-elected on May 7th, introduced IDS to Bedford College Principal and CEO Ian Pryce and students.

The MP and Minister took the time to visit the engineering block on the Cauldwell Street campus.

An announcement in February was made regarding a £4.5 Million Advanced Engineering Centre to be built beside the tower block on the Cauldwell Street campus.

Bedford College is largest provider of engineering apprenticeships training in Bedfordshire with links to employers such as Vauxhall and Lockheed Martin, among many others.

In 2014 it was asked by the Government to sponsor of the engineering-focused UTC in Houghton Regis.
