Shuttleworth College – students are in safe hands

Thursday 1 October 2015

Students joining Shuttleworth College to undertake studies in range of course from agriculture to “zoology” joined a Freshers’ Fair this week (Sept 23rd).

The event, organised by Student Services, was designed to make sure that those leaving school and joining the more mature environment of the college make good decisions about their health and well-being, on and off campus.

Shuttleworth College, taken over by Bedford College in 2009 continues to be an internationally recognised centre for training all aspects of land-based learning – including outdoor sports and activities.

Among those talking to students were sports activity groups, the library service, Samaritans and an anti-drugs service.

Director of Shuttleworth College Mike Johnston said: “The safety of our students is the number one priority of our college and this is an area in which we achieved an Outstanding accreditation from Ofsted.

“The inter-college Student Services team bring expertise and experience in guiding our young people from school into the adult work and on to the next transition into university.”

Bedford College is committed to completing £5 Million worth of improvements to the Shuttleworth campus which it leases from the Shuttleworth Trust, which owns the park and properties.
