Message in a glass bottle

Friday 24 June 2016

Bedford College Applied Design 3D students were commissioned to create glass work to help share a message from Bedfordshire Alcohol Services.

The aim of the charity, based in St John’s Street, Bedford is to inform people about the facts of alcohol use and the art project will support those aims.

Students were tasked with designing an object inspired by the title: Message in a Bottle.

They explored a variety of techniques and processes including fusing, slumping, laser cutting, hot lamp work and stain glass making.

The varied work was exhibited at the College’s South Bank Arts Centre and the winner and runner-up were announced at the end of year art show.

Carmelo Vullo took first prize and Fatema Sumaya, second.
