The IN crowd for farming

Wednesday 23 March 2016

The case for staying IN the EU was put by John Shropshire, Chairman of the G’s Fresh Group, at meeting at Shuttleworth College on Monday March 21st.

John was speaking at the revived East of England Agricultural Society Lecture which attracted leading local landowners and farmers. His company has sales of £400m a year in the UK, Europe and USA with farmlands in the UK, Czech Republic, Poland, Spain and Senegal in Africa. It employs 5,000 people and won awards for technical and product innovation, exports and environmental management.

He recently hit the headlines by joining a group which claimed that to leave would be a “nightmare” for UK farming.

Director of Shuttleworth College Mike Johnston said: “We were very interested to host this event which was very topical given the forthcoming EU referendum and the implications for the future of farming careers for our students.”
