Computing students at Bedford College have been asked to submit designs for the website of the national 157 Group.

The 157 represents 27 of the most forward thinking colleges in the UK, and Bedford College Principal and CEO, Ian Pryce, is a founder member.

Said Ian: “Bedford College has a national reputation for advancing the uses of technology in teaching and learning and so we are delighted that our Level 3 Computing students have been invited to come up with some solutions to update www.157group.co.uk

Paula Hobday, Assistant Director for Enterprise and Technology, explains: “The 157 Group opened up a competition to its member Colleges inviting students to redesign and create an innovative, captivating website.

“Our learners were placed into small teams by their tutor, Ruth Tippell, and have worked very hard to produce and submit a design and a working demo website. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a ‘Dragons Den’ interview, where their design will be examined by a panel of judges, including the 157 Group CEO, Ian Pretty, and the successful team of students will be rewarded with a prize from ‘Google’ for recognition of their work.”

“We are very proud of the work our students have done for this competition and, therefore, wanted to give them an opportunity to showcase their work to a larger audience, so we staged a show at the College on March 1st.”
