Team Bedfordshire

Thursday 6 October 2016

Hot on the heels of the GB success in Rio, Bedford College is supporting sporting achievements in the Borough.

With sport and outdoor adventure departments at the riverside campus in Bedford and the rolling acres of the Shuttleworth campus, the College has decided to again sponsor the Sports Coach of the Year category of the Bedford Sports Awards.

Entries are sought from a wide range of local organisations, many of which have team members who are past and present students of Bedford College. The finishing line is the gala awards at the Bedford Corn Exchange on 5 December.

Bedford College has had a range of Olympians and international athletes among its ranks over the years. It was an educational champion for the 2012 games.

“Keeping the Olympic spirit alive is important here at Bedford College, not just among those on sports and adventure courses but to encourage all our students towards the satisfaction of striving towards: ‘The best they can be’.

“Sponsoring the Sports Coach of the Year means we can help support those ideals among local schools and clubs, many of whom have staff with close links to Bedford College.”

“We’re part of Team Bedfordshire,” said Ian Pryce CBE, Principal and CEO of Bedford College, photographed with the Olympic educational award.
