Showing his metal

Sunday 16 July 2017

An 18-year-old Bedford College full-time engineering student has secured himself a job with Pressfab of Flitwick by making the most of an introduction.

Thomas Hutchins said:

“I was really interested in what they do and so when I heard there was a rota going for work experience via the college I put myself forward.

“I really enjoyed my time with them trying various aspects of the work they do and got some good feedback. One of the guys said he would put in a good word if I was applied and I thought: Why wouldn’t I want to work here? It’s everything I enjoy.

“I decided to print out my CV and take it along personally to show that I was really interested and a week later they rang to ask if I wanted to go along for some extra work experience. And then they offered me a job!

“Having a job lined up before I even finish college is great. My mum cried when I told her.

“My advice to anyone offered work experience is: Do It! It is invaluable.”
