This one-day course is designed to equip candidates to deal effectively with pruning operations.

Course content

This course will cover:

  • Identify, inspect and comment on the key parts of the powered pole pruner
  • Prepare the powered pole pruner for work safely without risk to themselves, other people or the environment
  • Carry out daily and routine maintenance on the powered pole pruner
  • Operate the powered pole pruner safely
  • Effectively and comfortably in accordance with a practical risk assessment
  • Operate the powered pole pruner safely without risk to themselves, other people and the environment
  • State the identified knowledge that underpins understanding of operating a powered pole pruner
  • Identify the risk assessment and emergency procedures on a work site.

Additional information

To take part in this course you must bring PPE (personal protective equipment) and other tools and equipment as listed on the joining instructions. You can also view the PPE and tools list here. These will be emailed to you a few weeks before the course is due to start – please contact us to confirm you have the required items.​

Pay by instalments

The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
