Product Design BTEC HND (full-time)
The one year HND programme is a follow on from the HNC 3D Design course and will introduce you to design manufacturing, new materials and trend forecasting. You will also develop methodologies for idea generation within the industry, the design cycle, analysis and testing. There is an emphasis on contemporary making skills for example ceramic, glass, wood, metal and resin. The programme is delivered by design practitioners in studios in the purpose built South Bank Arts Centre. The course will prepare you for a career as a creative designer and maker, in addition you will engage in contextual studies of British and European product design as well as design from various cultures. Our students have progressed to employment with local and London-based design agencies. One you have completed the HND in Product Design you can progress to a university of your choice.
Entry requirements
To begin this course you will need a Higher National Certificate in an Art & Design subject, or relevant professional experience. Entry will also be subject to a successful interview, where you will be asked to present a portfolio of your creative work, including developmental worksheets or sketchbooks.
Course content
You will develop skills and knowledge in Product Design as well as broad diagnostic skills and knowledge in 3D Design.

Further study and career options
On completion of this course, you will be able to undertake work on a freelance basis or direct employment. Future career paths include: product designer, interior designer, model designer.
Additional information
You will have the opportunity to take part in workshops delivered by guest designers as well as visiting design destinations for example Berlin, Milan and New York. Our students have taken part in several design exhibitions including New Designers, London.

Pay by instalments
The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 7 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
