Human Resources Management CIPD Level 5 Certificate

The CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in Human Resources Management will provide you with the perfect platform to further develop your HR career, and will give you the knowledge needed to work towards professional membership of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development). This professional qualification will introduce you to specialist areas within HR, and will enable you to gain associate CIPD membership on completion.

Entry requirements

This qualification is suitable for you if you're currently working in the field of HR management and wish to extend your knowledge and skills in order to develop your career. You may be looking to work towards a professional level of membership to gain credibility and recognition. The ideal candidate will typically have responsibility for implementing HR policies and strategies and have a need to become more business savvy in developing organisational insight into the wider business context and environment. You will be working in Human Resources or line management. A reference will be required.

Course content

During the course you will study the following topics:

  • Developing Professional Practice
  • Business Issues and the Contexts of Human Resources
  • Using Information in Human Resources
  • Employment Law
  • Developing Leadership and Management Skills
  • Reward Management.

As a Student or Associate member of the CIPD you will be invited to attend CIPD branch meetings, conferences and other events for your continuous professional development. Successful completion and certification will automatically provide you with Associate membership. You will need to continue your CIPD membership to maintain Associate membership.

Assessment methods

You will be assessed through written assignments; for example report writing, business presentations and professional discussion.

Further study and career options

On successful completion of this course you can progress to the Level 7 course currently offered at the University of Bedfordshire, as well as other establishments.

Additional information

CIPD membership is required and is payable direct to the CIPD. Check the CIPD website for the latest fees. For level 5 it is recommended that you join on commencement of the course to support your learning and course work. You must remain in membership to be certificated on successful completion of the course. 

You will also require access to up-to-date subject specific information and CIPD course books are recommended. Some books will be available as e-books and also in the Learning Resource Centre.

As well as attendance at college you will need to allow time for personal study and completion of course work. This can vary learners but could be in the range of 4-10 hours per week.

You may wish to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to the value of £724 for this course, and you also have the option to pay the rest of the fees by instalment.

Funding information
If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. PLEASE NOTE: This is subject to available funding allocation for 2019/20 academic year. 

Pay by instalments

The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
