Management and Leadership CMI Level 5 Diploma

This credit-based course will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to progress your management career. It is aimed at middle managers or those who aspire to such a role.


Entry requirements

You will need to be currently employed and have:

  • Level 3 Business/Management related qualification, OR
  • Appropriate work experience supervising others
  • A good standard of written English

Course content

You will receive an Award for achieving one unit, a certificate for achieving two units, and a Diploma for achieving nine units.

The units are:

  • Personal development as a manager and leader
  • Information-based decision making
  • Resource management
  • Meeting stakeholder and quality needs
  • Conducting a management project
  • Being a Leader
  • Marketing planning
  • Managing recruitment and selection
  • Financial control.

Assessment methods

You will be assessed on each unit through written reports, presentations and activities. Assignments are usually related to your workplace. Completion of the assessments will require your time outside the timetabled hours at the College.

Additional information

Attendance will be one evening per week for four weeks. Significant home study will be required to be successful on this course. Additional costs will be for an online management resource subscription.

Funding information

This course could be free! You will be eligible if you are aged 19-24 on the 31st August of the year you are starting your course and are actively seeking employment and in receipt of a means tested benefit (such as job seekers, housing benefit, council tax benefit). Please note you will need to be able to produce evidence of the benefit in your name when you come to enrol.
