Children & Young People's Workforce CACHE Level 3 Diploma
This course is for all of those who work in the Childcare Sector from 0-19 years.

Entry requirements
Students will need to work in a real work environment and be able to demonstrate competence in both knowledge and skills. They will need to have a Level 2 qualification in Childcare.
Course content
All learners will need to complete 11 core units with a value of 27 credits. They will then choose one of 3 pathways according to their vocational expertise.
These are:
- Early learning and childcare pathway
- Social care pathway
- Learning and development support services pathway.
They will then need to choose optional units to bank a total of 65 credits.
Optional units include:
- Support children and young people with disabilities
- Support the creativity of children and young people
- Understand the needs of vulnerable children and those experiencing poverty
- Understand how to safeguard the well being of children and young people
- Support care within fostering services
- Support speech language and communication development of children.
Units include:
- Support children and young people's positive behaviour
- Contribute to the support of child and young person development
- Contribute to children and young's people's health and safety
- Contribute to the support of the positive environments children and young people
- Understand partnership working in services for children and young people
- Support children and young people's positive behaviour
- Maintain and support relationship with children and young people
- Safeguard the welfare of children and young people
- Child and young person development
- Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children and young people settings
- Introduction personal development in heath, social care or children and young people settings
- Introduction to communication in health, social care or children and young people settings.
We would recommend as working with Children that a Paediatric First Aid Course be completed, of which these are available through Bedford College.
Assessment methods
Assessments and practical demonstrations and observations in the workplace.
Further study and career options
Students may progress onto degree-level study.
Additional information
Part time and delivered solely in the workplace. Students will need to a significant amount of reading and self directed study. There are limited places for e learning portfolio type of study. Speak to the tutor if this appeals to you. Individual units can be studied and will be accredited. For example an early years worker may want to update their CPD and want to study a unit on disabilities or on safeguarding young children. Please call for more details. If you are aged 24 or over you may qualify for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course.
