Information and Creative Technology Intermediate (Level 2)
This is a one or two year study programme depending on your existing qualifications. It is designed to give broad skills, knowledge and an understanding of the IT sector. The study programme will develop your computing skills and prepare you for a future career in the IT industry.
Entry requirements
To begin this study programme you will need...
Duration: 1 Year
- 3 GCSEs at grades 9-3 ideally including English and maths
OR
Duration: 2 Years
- 3 GCSEs at grades 9-1 ideally including English and maths, and a keen interest in Computing
- Other relevant levels of qualifications or experience will be considered.

If you don't already have GCSE English and maths grade A*-C, we will work with you to help you develop your maths and English skills.
- Personal development skills, study skills and employability skills
Assessment methods
As well as lectures and practical workshops, you will undertake a variety of tasks including research, presentations, teamwork and assignments. Two units will be externally assessed by online tests and the remainder are internally assessed through assignments that are set and marked by your tutors. You will also be required to take a test for any GCSE resits or Functional Skills qualifications.

Further study and career options
The skills you develop on this study programme are highly valued by employers, and a wide range of employment opportunities will be available to you on completion, including communications, administration, software, hardware development and commerce. Students successfully completing the course with Functional Skills can progress onto one of our Level 3 programmes.
Additional information
There will be an additional cost of £25 for trips. If you are aged 16-18, tuition fees, exam fees and College membership are free. However, there are additional costs associated with some courses. For example, you may be required to purchase specialist uniforms, equipment or books.
Funding information
All full-time Level 1 and Level 2 courses are now FREE for everyone, whatever their age. If you are looking to study a Level 3 qualification, courses are still free if you’re under 19 or 19-23 and studying your first full Level 3 qualification.
