Construction Intermediate (Level 2) (Cancelled)

This study programme will provide you with an excellent introduction to the theory and practical skills needed to work in the construction industry in a variety of occupational areas, allowing you to make an informed decision on whether to progress with further training or employment within these areas.

Entry requirements

To begin this study programme you will need at least three GCSEs at grades D or above (including Mathematics), or an equivalent Level 1 qualification in Construction. Entry will also be subject to a successful interview, where you will be asked to complete a skills assessment.

Course content

  • Subject units:
    • Working Safely in Construction
    • Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction
    • Safe Use of Access Equipment
    • Performing Trowel Operations
    • Performing Carpentry and Joinery Operations
    • Working in the Construction Industry
    • Construction Methods and Techniques
  • English and maths:
    If you don't already have GCSE English and maths grade A*-C, we will work with you to help you develop your maths and English skills. 
  • Work experience
  • Personal development skills, study skills and employability skills 

Assessment methods

Assessment will be continuous throughout the study programme, and will consist of research, assignments, and practical assessments.

Further study and career options

On successful completion of this study programme you could progress on to the Construction Level 3 study programme, or pursue a practical career within the construction industry.

Additional information

To take part in this study programme there will be an additional fee of approximately £20 to pay for clothing/uniform. 

You will be expected to purchase books at the cost of £20 to aid your studies. You may also need to pay £10 to attend educational event(s) that complement your course.

Funding information

All full-time Level 1 and Level 2 courses are now FREE for everyone, whatever their age. If you are looking to study a Level 3 qualification, courses are still free if you’re under 19 or 19-23 and studying your first full Level 3 qualification. If you’re over 23 or studying a second Level 3 qualification, you will need to pay a fee. Find out more on our financial support page at
