Site Carpentry Advanced (Level 3)
This Advanced study programme will provide you with the skills and experience you need to carry out a wide range of carpentry work to the standards agreed by the leading industry bodies. The course will help widen your understanding of the industry in which you work, ensuring that you complete the course with a good grounding for future career development.

- You will also cover a range of topics including:
- Carrying out first fixing operations
- Carrying out second fixing operations
- Carrying out structural carcassing operations
- Setting up and operating cutting and shaping machinery
- Erecting complex structural carcassing components
- Installing and maintaining non-structural and structural components
- English and maths:
If you don't already have GCSE English and maths grade A*-C, we will work with you to help you develop your maths and English skills.
- Personal development skills, study skills and employability skills
Assessment methods
You will be continuously assessed as the study programme progresses, with your skills and knowledge being measured against set standards as the units of training are completed. There will also be a practical exam and a series of unit tests.
Qualifications
Site Carpentry OR Bench Joinery NOCN- CSkills Level 3 Diploma
Plus:
- Health, Safety and Environment (CSCS) Card
- English and maths qualifications if required
Further study and career options
On successful completion of this study programme you could progress onto the Construction BTEC National Diploma. Alternatively, you could gain employment as a site carpentry apprentice in a wide range of organisations, such as construction companies, local authorities, public organisations or shop fitting companies. You could also convert your qualification into an NVQ Level 3 with Bedford College by collecting work-based evidence.
Additional information
Students who are motivated and committed can advance at a faster rate. To take part in this study programme you will be required to pay for:
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), approximately £30
- Textbooks, approximately £20
- You will also be required to pay approximately £40 to take a CSCS test. This will allow you to complete the mandatory 30 hours’ work experience required as part of this study programme
Funding information
All full-time Level 1 and Level 2 courses are now FREE for everyone, whatever their age. If you are looking to study a Level 3 qualification, courses are still free if you’re under 19 or 19-23 and studying your first full Level 3 qualification.
