Beauty Therapy Level 3 Apprenticeship at Bedford College

This apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and knowledge to carry out the most popular treatments required by salons: facial and body electricals, Indian head massage and epilation, as well as self-tanning, health and safety and event planning. The qualification will give you the skills to work nationally and internationally.

Entry requirements

Grade requirements: You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grades A*-D or 9-3, including English and maths, or equivalent, plus a full Level 2 qualification in Beauty Therapy.

You also need to be working at a beauty salon or spa.

Course content

During this apprenticeship you will study a range of topics, including:

  • Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
  • Implement promotional activities
  • Body Massage
  • Facial electricals
  • Body electricals
  • Indian Head Massage
  • Self Tanning and Epilation

Assessment methods

You will be assessed via online exams for theory and client-based assessments for the practical units.


You will gain the following qualifications: 

Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 3 Diploma

Further study and career options

Further study: On successful completion of this course you could progress on to higher education, such as a foundation degree in business, salon management or other programmes.

Additional information

You will be required to pay for your uniform and equipment, full details of which will be explained to you on application.

Next steps

To be eligible for an apprenticeship you must either be employed on a full-time contract by an employer willing to support your training or have an offer of employment as an apprentice. Bedford College can help you find a job role with an employer if you don’t already have one.
