Cutting Men's Hair City and Guilds Level 2 Award

Your cutting skills are among the most important you will need as a barber, and take time to develop. During this course you will use scissors and clippers to produce both classical styles and commercial fashion looks. As your skills develop you will gain the confidence to cut different hair types, creating both graduated and one-length cuts. This is a student-focused course that will be tailored to meet the individual needs of each student, ensuring that your creative skills and knowledge will be expanded to maximum effect.

Entry requirements

This course requires a Level 2 qualification in hairdressing, or evidence in studying at Level 2 in the hair industry.

Course content

During your practical sessions you will learn how to cut a variety of different looks using barbering techniques, while the theory element of the course will expand your underpinning knowledge of cutting men’s hair and the products used to create a professional service

Assessment methods

Practical skills will be observed by a trained assessor in a non-obtrusive manner. A theory test will be taken online upon the completion of the theory element of the course.

Further study and career options

This Award in cutting men’s hair can be added to your hairdressing Portfolio or alternately you could progress onto our Level 2 Diploma Hairdressing/Barbering programme, pending a successful interview.

Additional information

You will be required to purchase professional scissors and combs for this course (£20.00 approx. for scissors, £2.95 approx. per comb)
