Make-Up City & Guilds Level 2 Award
This Level 2 Award in Make-up is a vocational qualification which focuses on the development of the underlying principles and practical skills required in the industry. This qualification is about providing skin care and make up treatments. This qualification has been designed using the National Occupational Standards in Beauty Therapy.
It is designed to deliver occupational capability and provide a sound platform from which to enter into employment or progress onto further learning or training.
Entry requirements
You are either required to complete the City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Health and Safety for the Hair and Beauty or already hold a recognised qualification in Health & Safety (proof will be required).
To begin this course you will need to complete a basic skills test and will need to show:
- A good standard of literacy
- High level of presentation standards
- Practical dexterity.
Course content
You will learn how to:
- Maintain effective health, safety and hygiene procedures throughout your work
- Cleanse the skin prior to make-up application
- Apply make-up to support the objective of the treatment and supply aftercare advice.
Assessment methods
Assessment for this course is through assignment work/ on line exam and practical assessments on clients, once skills have been achieved working on peers.
Further study and career options
On completion you can build up your professional qualifications by adding other part-time courses. This qualification is looked upon favourably by cosmetic houses found in department stores, and may enable you to progress in that area.
Additional information
You will need to purchase a uniform (£41.60), kit (£33.47) and text book to begin this course. A professional dress code will need to be followed at all times. You will learn all practical aspects within your peer group and you will be assessed on clients.
Pay by instalments
The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 7 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
