Wired Sugar Flowers ABC Level 1 Award

This Level 1 Award is designed to develop your skills and knowledge in flower modelling for cake decoration.

Entry requirements

You do not need any previous qualifications of experience to start this course.

Course content

During this course you will study a range of topics, including:

  • Modelling a variety of wired flowers
  • Colouring
  • Steaming
  • Glazing
  • Taping
  • Wiring
  • Use of tools
  • Health and hygiene
  • Basic exploratory introduction to design.

Assessment methods

There is no final examination, but you will be continuously assessed throughout the course by your tutor, and your results will be externally verified using your completed portfolio and your final exhibition pieces.

Further study and career options

Successful completion of these courses will enable you to pursue flower modelling and sugar craft to a high level, whether for teaching, exhibition work, working in industry or purely for personal achievement.

Additional information

In addition to the course fees, you will also be required to pay for protective clothing; this will be purchased through the department and must be worn in the classroom at all times.
