Vehicle Accident Repair Body Principles IMI Level 3 Diploma
This Level 3 qualification covers technical needs for today’s motor vehicle repair industry, including diagnosis and rectification procedures for major accident damage. It provides essential knowledge for the body repair industry, working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist body repair shops.

Entry requirements
To start this course you will need to have completed Vehicle Accident Repair Body Principles IMI Level 2 Diploma or equivalent.
Course content
This course involves theory and practical aspects, including:
- Removing, replacing structural body panels
- Identifying and rectifying body misalignment
- Jig work (using a measuring system)
- Major accident damage repair
You will also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage. This qualification also forms the knowledge component (technical certificate) of the IMI SSC Accident Repair Advanced Apprenticeship framework (Body).
Assessment methods
Assessment is through written phase tests, online multiple choice exams, and practical workshop based tasks that are individually assessed. On successful completion you will gain IMI certification. The course is 50% workshop-based and 50% theory.
Further study and career options
On successful completion of the course you could progress into employment in the industry. Former students have progressed to local industry or are now running their own businesses.
Additional information
During this part-time course you will need to attend College for one day a week, with a balance of training being undertaken at the workplace. You will need to provide your own safety equipment for the course, including footwear, overalls and safety goggles.
Pay by instalments
The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
