Instructing Circuit Training Sessions CYQ Level 2 Award (YMCA)

This qualification is ideal if you want to know how to design and deliver safe and effective circuit training sessions. The course will enable you to discover the secrets of organising great circuit sessions, including teaching skills, motivating participants and more.


Entry requirements

To begin this course we recommend a pre-requisite qualification of a Fitness Instructing Level 2 Certificate, or any other qualification within the physical activity advisor category as stated by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs), for example Fitness Walking Level 2 Certificate.

Course content

During the course you will study a range of topics, including:

  • How to design and teach safe and effective circuit training sessions
  • The principles of warm up, the aerobic curve and cool down
  • Working to music
  • Motivating participants
  • Group teaching skills
  • How to respond to health and safety issues.

Assessment methods

You will be assessed by completing a portfolio and a practical assessment.

Further study and career options

On successful completion of this course you could undertake further study in a related subject, such as our Personal Trainer Level 3 Certificate.

Additional information

To take part in this course you will be required to provide your own sports kit to wear at each session.
