Internal Quality Assurance City & Guilds Level 4 Certificate (TAQA)

These City and Guilds TAQA qualifications are for those who internally assure the quality of vocational programmes. There are two different awards and a certificate. They replace the V1 Verifier’'s Award. The units can be undertaken separately or in combination and can be added to later to make different qualifications.

The qualifications are for those who assure the quality of any vocational qualifications, or intend to. They apply to any vocational courses, not just NVQs. The courses have a flexible start date and are run on a one-to-one basis.

Entry requirements

They will need to be qualified/experienced in a vocational area and meet the requirements for quality assurance as specified by the assessment strategy of their vocational area qualification. This is usually a Level 3 qualification in their subject and an assessing qualification. For unit 402 the student will need to be able to monitor and assure the quality of the work of two assessors, each with a minimum of two candidates, through components of a qualification. For unit 403 the student must be able to plan, allocate and monitor quality assurance for a team.

Course content

During the course you will:

  • Plan, monitor and improve internal quality assurance, or understand how to do this
  • Maintain legal and good practice while internally monitoring quality assurance, or understand how to do this.

  • Unit 401: Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment.
  • Unit 402: Internally assure the quality of assessment.
  • Unit 403: Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility.

If you are studying unit 402 or 403 you will need to be a position to collect evidence of these activities, either in paid or voluntary employment. The units can be added to later if you develop your role.

Assessment methods
