Supporting Apprenticeships
This is a half day workshop for employers who are taking on or have apprentices. It is intended to be a ’Hands-on’ practical exploration of the work based support role for apprenticeships.
Entry requirements
No previous experience of mentoring is required, however your focus should be on an intention to move into a mentoring role in the future.
Course content
This introductory course will be ‘hands-on’ and will cover aspects such as:
- The role of the Mentor in the workplace
- Overview of Apprenticeships / New standards
- The benefits of assigning a Mentor to an apprentice
- Contributing to the review process
- Setting SMART targets
Assessment methods
There is no formal assessment for this course and a ‘Certificate of Attendance’ will be issued.
Further study and career options
- Level 2 Introduction to Trainer Skills
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training or the CertEd/PGCE
- Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
