Supporting Apprenticeships

This is a half day workshop for employers who are taking on or have apprentices. It is intended to be a ’Hands-on’ practical exploration of the work based support role for apprenticeships.

Entry requirements

No previous experience of mentoring is required, however your focus should be on an intention to move into a mentoring role in the future.

Course content

This introductory course will be ‘hands-on’ and will cover aspects such as:

  • The role of the Mentor in the workplace
  • Overview of Apprenticeships / New standards
  • The benefits of assigning a Mentor to an apprentice
  • Contributing to the review process
  • Setting SMART targets

Assessment methods

There is no formal assessment for this course and a ‘Certificate of Attendance’ will be issued.

Further study and career options

  • Level 2 Introduction to Trainer Skills
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training or the CertEd/PGCE  
  • Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
