How to apply

Follow these simple steps to apply for your place at Bedford College or Shuttleworth College...

1. Shortlist your favourite study programmes and attend an Open Day

Visit our courses for the full list, or to pre-register for one of our open days here.

2. Apply online

Apply online for your chosen study programme. If you do not have access to a computer you can give us a call, drop us an email or chat with us on line and we can help you. 

3. Receive an offer

We will arrange a telephone interview or information, advice and guidance session with you so you can find out more about your course. You will also have the opportunity to chat with a tutor. Who will make you a course offer. Please download our useful guide here to help you prepare for your telephone interviews. 

4. Attend your Welcome Day

Due to the current COVID situation we are unsure if we will be able to invite you in personally to attend our Welcome Day on Tuesday 30 June 2020, this is where you would get a taste of college life, meet your tutors and make new friends. Please do not worry if it is not able to go ahead you will not miss out we will do something else for you instead. 

5. Enrolment

You will be invited to enrol onto your study programme between Friday 21 August 2020 and Friday 4 September 2020. Although the government has announced that exams will not be going ahead this summer, we are committed to ensuring that all students who apply to join us this year will be able to do so. We therefore want to reassure you that you have nothing to worry about with regards to applying for one of our programmes starting in September 2020. We are committed to ensuring that the challenges of the current situation will not prevent our future students from achieving their full potential, we are with you every step of the way.

6. Start your study programme

Our term begins on Monday 14 September 2020.

Terms and Conditions - We've Saved You a Seat Campaign

If you applied and were offered a place on a full-time course before The Bedford College Group closed on Friday 20th March 2020 you are guaranteed to have a place on the course of your choice (Excluding The Bedford Sixth Form, Part-time and Higher Education). 

If you applied on a full-time course at The Bedford College Group (excluding The Bedford Sixth Form, Part-time and Higher Education) after Friday 20th March 2020 whilst you will be offered a place with us, however, it may not be on the course or level of your choice. There is high demand for courses with us and we recommend you get your application in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. ​
